Rare Art Deco smoker's companion in the form of an airplane. This was made by J.A. Henckels in Germany around 1930. The central body of the plane lifts up to reveal a compartment for cigars. The removable wings are formed by two cigarette cases. The cockpit acts as a matchsafe with removable striker. Behind the match striker is a set of four ashtrays. The propeller is a spring loaded cigar cutter, the clippings are emptied by removing the wheel assembly. Marked to cigarette case, tail fin, propeller and to the underside.
Condition
The piece is complete with all original accessories.
Cigar cutter is fully functional. The entire piece shows varying degrees of wear to the plating. There are some minor dings and general wear throughout. There is noticeable ding to one cigarette case and a mark to lid of compartment lid.
