Rare Antique Victorian Aesthetic Solid Sterling Silver Box / Pot. London, 1889.
A beautiful Victorian solid silver lidded pot dating to London 1899. Beautifully decorated throughout with very finely embossed floral motifs. Body with vacant cartouche to one side and, very unusually, a large insect to the other. The lift of lid topped with a turned knop. Fully hallmarked to body and lid for Mapping & Webb, London 1889. Also with French silver control marks. Altogether a high quality and very finely make piece. The insect being particularly unusual.
