A large Georgian silver bread basket, London 1799. Of navette form, standing on a similarly shaped base. With swing handle over fluted basket sides. Matching crests to the handle and interior base. The crest probably belongs to the Wellman family. Hallmarked to side for London 1799. Stamped with maker's mark, probably Daniel Pontifex, to base rim. Additional lion passant to underside of handle. A beautiful piece of Georgian silver.
Condition
In good antique condition with expected wear throughout. Hallmarks to the main body are quite rubbed.
