A very rare set of 4 silver menu holders, dating to Chester 1907.

Made by silversmith Sampson Mordan, in the form of sentry boxes.  Each sentry box features a card insert with a hand painted guard.  The guards featured are as follows:

Royal Horse Artillery
Gordon Highlander
Royal Horse Guard
Irish Guard

Fully hallmarked for Sampson Mordan, Chester 1907. Also bearing retailers name and address: Edwards & Sons 161 Regent Street London W. Each also stamped with registration mark: Rd 512060. The menu holders contained in the original custom box with retailers mark. A very rare set, possibly unique, from a renowned silversmith.

Condition

In good antique condition with expected wear. The silver with expected surface wear. Paintings with some discolouration and crazing. A couple of small chips to inside of glass panels. Box with some dark staining and general wear. Silver hallmarks are all clear and legible.
