A rare George I silver coffee pot made by Charles Kandler.
A top quality piece from one of England's most important silversmiths.
The hinged, domed lid over baluster body and spreading foot.
Having ebonised wooden handle and ornate cast spout.
Excellent engraved decoration, featuring the shell motif favoured by Kandler.
Also with engraved images of a man and a woman to front and back.
It is possible the pot was a wedding gift the the couple pictured.
Hallmarked to the base for Charles Kandler, London 1723.
Given the date and placement of the hallmarks, this may be a "duty dodger" piece.
Of particularly heavy gauge throughout, this is an absolutely top quality piece.
A rare opportunity to acquire a piece from one of the most celebrated of silversmiths.

Condition
Good antique condition.
Expected surface wear and minor dings.
Leans somewhat to the side, so base should be adjusted.
Engraving is crisp with not much rubbing.
